Today is Remembrance Sunday which reminded me of the sea of poppies at the Tower of London. I haven't been to this myself but everyone I know who has, has told me it is the most amazing sight. I think the idea of having a poppy for each British soldier that was in the war really touching because this shows that we haven't forgotten about a single one of them. 888,246 ceramic poppies were created and you could purchase one online, and once the instillation has been taken down you get the poppy sent to you. This was placed at the Tower of London because this is an iconic place, and the size of the instillation represents the importance of remembering them and what they did for Britain. The name of this instillation is 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red', I feel this is a really emotional name for this because it gives you a little insight of what the soldiers went through during World War 1, and this is created in a strong way by actually making a land and sea of blood through thousands and thousands of poppies. We are visiting London next week so maybe at some point it would be good to go and visit this beautiful instillation.
